In 2011, Plush will release an album of their latest songs. The band's song repertoire increased and drew sell-out crowds in South Africa and went on to have a successful tour of the United Kingdom in August, 2007. In 2007 the group gained national momentum with a new release 'When Grace Grew Tall' shooting to the number one position on 5fm's where it remained for four weeks. Rory, again with Ben, is campaigning for SADD (South Africans Against Drunk Driving) with Brenda Voss of Wandering Star Projects and they are touring the country in an effort to educate students of the perils of drinking and driving. Rorys successful acting career has lent itself to his superb showmanship with his audiences and he has toured nationally and internationally with theatre productions. And so has begun his new career, alongside Ben Peters a former drummer with Plush performing as Rory Eliot and continuing with the promotion of both his albums, This charismatic duo have stunned crowds with their rhythmic cohesion and perform both old Plush favourites and Rorys latest compositions to roaring approval. Since 1998, teams that made the semifinals of the World Cup have, on average, won better than 60% of their final five games before the tournament. They were relegated from the first tier of the Nations League and haven't won any of their past six games. Iran (Group B): England have been awful ever since I wrote those first predictions. Qatar can play some nice possession soccer at times (see: their match against the United States at the 2021 Gold Cup) - but it's hard to see them not getting overpowered by bigger and stronger teams.ĭespite some fun talent, Ecuador don't seem all that good - they barely eked out a positive goal differential in qualifying - but they should cruise in this one.Įngland vs. Per the ratings, the gap between them and the 31st-ranked defensive team (Costa Rica) is bigger than the gap between Costa Rica and No. They're 50th in the FIFA rankings, and Twenty First Group's model rates them as the worst defensive team in the tournament by a good margin. Is Qatar's World Cup an attempt at sportswashing, or something more? There's no other way to say it, really: Qatar are the worst host nation team in the history of the World Cup, and the Qataris are only in the tournament because of the incredibly dubious process that led to their country being awarded the tournament. Does the fact that no one had thought about this until a couple of months ago bode well for the general logistical success of a massive global event taking place in a tiny desert nation? It does not, but we've already lost the thread here. Ecuador (Group A): One big thing that's changed since the first go-round? The date of and participants in the opening game! Senegal-Netherlands was supposed to be the opener, but tournament organizers have since bumped up this match a day to ensure the host nation gets Game 1. I'll reference their ratings throughout this journey it's just another tool to help guide us from start to finish. With international soccer, there aren't enough games to truly judge a team based on its recent results, and the rosters are always changing, so this player-based method attempts to address those problems. Like last time, all of the stats mentioned in the piece come from Stats Perform, but unlike last time, we are only looking at data from competitive matches played since August 1, 2021.Īnd also like last time, I've employed the help of the consultancy Twenty First Group, which has built a model that combines individual player ratings and team performance to create a rating for every international team. Some of the predictions and analysis from the first time around will not change, while other parts will read very differently. So, with this added information, we're running it back and predicting all the matches from Nov. Players have been injured, players have played poorly, players have appeared out of nowhere, and managers have left their jobs. (Sorry, Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante, Diogo Jota, Reece James, and on and on.) We now know who's playing, both at a micro and macro level, in a way I did not, back in April. (Sorry, Peru!) And so have the 26-man rosters for all 32 teams. Since then, the final two slots in the tournament were confirmed. When I first did this, seven months ago, I wrote the following: "Players can get injured, players can play poorly, players can appear out of nowhere, managers can quit their jobs - the list of complicating factors is endless." And yet, I still went ahead and made a prediction for all 64 of the matches scheduled to be played in Qatar. Predicting the entire 2022 World Cup, from Qatar vs. You have reached a degraded version of because you're using an unsupported version of Internet Explorer.įor a complete experience, please upgrade or use a supported browser The Aeroeagle is slightly more economical because it carries one additional job and flies much slower than the Pearjet which would save you money.ġ7-19, well they had you going there. The Pearjet is faster and carries slightly less, but it is still a great money maker depending on your playstyle. Here the Birchcraft and Equinox are unlocked, and they are useful for clearing regional layovers that don’t involve crossing the atlantic but do involve practically crossing the entire region directly (even the Mapple may have to divert to Kansas City, Phoenix, or something else to get to DC these aircraft would be able to do it directly).ġ4-16, congratulations! You made it. I believe it is the only class 1 aircraft with a 1p/2c configuration whereas all other 3 capacity aircraft are 2p/1c.ġ0-13 are pretty forgetful as well. I wouldn’t say the p/c configurations are worth it because the Mohawk and airvan have you covered there, but the m configuration is something you may want to pay attention to. It’s forgetful because it has a terrible range but a decent speed. The other more forgetful plane is the Anan. The Mohawk is just below the X10, and I would put it above the Kangaroo, because it does not travel as fast as the X10, but it can carry all cargo or all passengers while going significantly faster than the Kangaroo. The X10 has the widest range for its 4 job capacity, and it’s the fastest plane in its class at that capacity, but it can only carry 2 of each job type. The Kangaroo flies the slowest, but it can carry 4 of the same type jobs or go multi as well, and it has the worst range. The Kangaroo, Mohawk, and X10 are all pretty good planes. The Supergopher is also pretty good for its range, but it can only carry one which is why I would say it’s mostly forgetful in the early game when earning money, coins, and xp are more important.Ħ-8, you unlock the best class 1s in the game and one kinda forgetful plane. Planes to pay attention to are the Navigator, Wallaby, and Airvan because they would allow you a 25% bonus if you get all jobs going to the same place. The listed aircraft are going to be mass-produced depending on your play style.ġ-5 don’t really have amazing planes. The other planes may be useful in moderation, but you aren’t going to make more than a couple of each. TL DR: Planes to pay attention to include the Kangaroo (7), the Mohawk (8), and the Mapple Pro X10 (8) all at class 1 the Pearjet (14) and the Aeroeagle (16), class 2 and the Sequoia (22), the Cyclone (26), and the Cloudliner (28). Disclaimer: Sorry for the book, but it’s a discussion covering every level unlockable plane in the game. “I suppose I gather ideas for my songs while on the road,” he says, “but there’s also always the consciousness there that the songs are gonna be played on the road, so it’s intertwined.” Several of them play out as psychological travelogues, as Farrar captures moods in motion. These songs are the modern-day aural equivalent of the photographs of Walker Evans, Robert Frank and William Eggleston: sharply observed yet compassionate images of the telling details of everyday life during hard times. In this world of “greys and blues,” as Farrar puts it, the intimacies of human relationships are knotted up in predicaments that arise out of struggling to get by while desperately grasping at whatever remnants of the American Dream are still within reach. An epic lament for the heartland, American Central Dust is populated with readily recognizable characters, the most hopeful of them searching for love against a backdrop of rusted road signs and abandoned factories. Written during the summer of 2008, a period when it was becoming increasingly evident that the center would not hold, these 12 songs vividly capture the unease of a people in crisis, as the familiar was becoming surreal and long-held assumptions were in the process of unraveling. I probably learned that from listening to Tom Waits, where simplicity can be a virtue.”Īs for the contemporary side, “Just like with previous records, I have a daily habit of paying close attention to the news, and some of that does lead its way into the writing,” he acknowledges. This time around, I was going for a kind of simplicity, even in the structure of the songs. “The Search was more about expanding the scope in terms of song structures and instrumentation. “The approach was to get back to more fundamental themes, both lyrically and musically, to make a more focused record,” Farrar explains. In the classic sense, the new album exhilaratingly carries on the tradition of the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Little Feat circa Sailin’ Shoes, the Rolling Stones of Exile on Main Street and early R.E.M. “The band dynamic is such that everyone is bringing a diverse amount of experience into play and pushing everyone else-usually into the unknown, but that’s a good place to make music.”Īmerican Central Dust, Son Volt’s third album in four years (Rounder, July 7), following ’05’s Okemah and the Melody of Riot and ’07’s The Search, marks the apotheosis of both the Son Volt dynamic and the rigorous aesthetic that distinguishes Farrar’s entire body of work, in which classic and contemporary elements are fashioned into arresting new shapes. “Making solo recordings can be fulfilling, but you quickly become aware of self- capabilities and limitations,” says Farrar. Missing the free exchange of ideas and the surprises that inevitably occur when a group of simpatico musicians lock together, Farrar assembled a new lineup of Son Volt in 2004. After spearheading the alt country movement with Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar pursued his vision with Son Volt, who recorded three landmark albums in the ’90s before the groundbreaking artist put the band on extended hiatus and cut three solo LPs. These are Intel's official core specs on the full large and small Arc Alchemist chips. Intel Arc Alchemist Specifications Header Cell - Column 0 Potential Intel Arc Alchemist Specifications and Price Here's everything we know about the upcoming Intel Arc Alchemist, including specifications, performance expectations, release date, and more. There's much more to building a good GPU than just saying you want to make one, and Intel has a lot to prove. Plus, Intel has steadily improved the performance and features in its integrated graphics solutions over the past couple of decades (albeit at a slow and steady snail's pace). Besides the i740 in 1998, Larrabee and the Xeon Phi had similar goals back in 2009, though the GPU aspect never really panned out. Clearly, the hope is that he can help lead Intel's GPU division into new frontiers, and Arc Alchemist represents the results of several years worth of labor. Raja was the driving force behind AMD's Radeon Technologies Group, created in November 2015, along with the Vega and Navi architectures. Intel's Xe Graphics aspirations hit center stage in early 2018, starting with the hiring of Raja Koduri from AMD, followed by chip architect Jim Keller and graphics marketer Chris Hook, to name just a few. Performance: Up to ~RTX 3060 Ti / ~RX 6700 level Specs: Up to 512 Vector Units / 4096 Shader Cores But we'll leave those for a future discussion. Truthfully, we're just hoping Intel can make it to base camp, leaving the actual summiting for the future Battlemage, Celestial, and Druid architectures. Here's the breakdown of the Arc Alchemist architecture, a look at the announced products, some Intel-provided benchmarks, all of which give us a glimpse into how Intel hopes to reach the summit. Intel has a steep mountain to ascend if it wants to be taken seriously in the dedicated GPU space. More importantly, the A380 is potentially about a quarter of the performance of the top-end Arc A770, so there's still hope. Video encoding hardware was a high point at least. The Arc A380 did better, but it still only managed to match or slightly exceed the performance of the GTX 1650 (GDDR5 variant) and RX 6400. It was also a bit better than half the performance of 2016's GTX 1050 2GB, despite having twice as much memory. Overall, Xe DG1 performed about the same as Nvidia's GT 1030 GDDR5, a weak-sauce GPU hailing from May 2017. While the first Xe GPUs arrived in 2020, in the form of Tiger Lake mobile processors, and Xe DG1 showed up by the middle of 2021, neither one can hope to compete with even GPUs from several generations back. AMD's Big Navi / RDNA 2 architecture has competed with Nvidia's Ampere architecture since late 2020. The difficulty Intel faces in cracking the dedicated GPU market can't be underestimated. Frankly, there's nowhere to go from here but up. Intel has been gearing up its driver team for the launch, fixing compatibility and performance issues on existing graphics solutions, hopefully getting ready for the US and "rest of the world" launch. Plenty of questions remain, but with the official China-first launch of Intel Arc Alchemist laptops and the desktop Intel Arc A380 now behind us, plus plenty of additional details of the Alchemist GPU architecture, we now have a reasonable idea of what to expect. With Intel targeting better than RTX 3060 levels of performance, at a potentially lower price and with more VRAM, things are shaping up nicely for Team Blue.Ĭould Intel, purveyor of low performance integrated GPUs-"the most popular GPUs in the world"-possibly hope to compete? Yes, it can. That's a lot lower on pricing than what was initially rumored, but then the A770 is also coming out far later than originally intended. The latest announcement from Intel is that the Arc A770 is coming October 12, starting at $329. The competition among the best graphics cards is fierce, and Intel's current integrated graphics solutions basically don't even rank on our GPU benchmarks hierarchy (UHD Graphics 630 sits at 1.8% of the RTX 3090 based on just 1080p medium performance). This is the first 'real' dedicated Intel GPU since the i740 back in 1998 - or technically, a proper discrete GPU after the Intel Xe DG1 paved the way last. Intel has been hyping up Xe Graphics for about two years, but the Intel Arc Alchemist GPU will finally bring some needed performance and competition from Team Blue to the discrete GPU space. This controller provides a huge amount of time. Other modular components include a different height, a type of D-pad buttons and the addition of other types of modular components. I know he’s a weird setup, but hey, it’s there if you want it. You could even reverse the offset if you wanted, with left handing towards the controller and left handing towards the controller. You don’t love inline games like the PlayStation controllers. You can have a hand-held offset stick like an Xbox controller. This means you can change some components and adjust some others, transforming the controller to any controller you want. This is because the controller is completely modular. In some ways the best of both consoles are the same, although it is sadly lackable with some large dual-sense features such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.Īlthough Victrix Pro isn’t much better than the DualSense interface, it’s not all about it in other parts, making it even more powerful. The Victrix Pro BFG can get users to know in the most comfortable way in which a console is built. With regard to the Viktorix Pro BFG, you can see that this controller has a striking resemblance to a game console, which can be combined in many parts of the Xbox. If you are not enough to pay for the ticket, you may pay for it. A pro controller for the PS5, the Victrix Pro BFG is a different animal, notwithstanding its back-hone button nature, so it can be modded to suit different controls. Some clients will ask for a regular gel-polish application because they like the look. So you have to mitigate while establishing your service menu and prices if you will list that option and if you will charge less or the same. Keep in mind that some clients will prefer a flat polish-like application. Just remember that builder gel will add slightly more volume and strength. Nothing wrong with that if that is what you want to achieve. You could try to add structure to the nail using the base gel, but usually, these gels have a thinner viscosity, resulting in a tad less flat nail. Regular gel nail polish manicures consist of simply brushing on the base gel layer, color, and top coat. Right? Natural nails are usually flatter, so we use clear gels in a structured manner to achieve long-lasting, stronger, more aesthetically pleasing nails. The nails look thin in the cuticle area, slightly thicker in the middle, and delicate at the free edge, sort of like an ideal shape. I’m sure you have seen pictures of perfect gel nail manicures on social media. Besides these brands, I always recommend using clear gels from the same brand to avoid service breakdowns. I created a video where I compare consistency and flexibility if you are interested in that before buying one. I can tell you from much experience using them that Leafgel, Kokoist, and Vetro are great options. You may ask if I recommend a particular builder gel. This builder layer will add strength to the nail without adding a ton of bulk, regardless of the length of the nail. Remember, an overlay will have a generously thin layer of builder gel after the base gel layer. They are very strong and flexible they formulate them this way to match the natural nail’s flexibility and prolong wear time. Don’t be fooled by the consistency of these gels being thinner than hard gel. Japanese gels offer a soak-off builder gel to enhance their promise of protecting the integrity of the natural nail while still delivering natural solid enhancements. Now let’s go over some things to consider when doing structured manis. Gel structures are then finished with color or nail art, and if you use tinted bases, like a builder in a bottle, you can simply complete your structured overlay with top gel. Soft gel structures are so popular because they are thin and enhance the look and feel of your very own natural nails. Gel structuring uses a slightly to medium viscous gel and creates a balanced apex to reinforce the natural nail. So to recap, gel nail structures can be referred to as s tructured gel manicure and structured gel overlay. If you want to learn more about how to successfully structure and price your services, I’m making this available again. This is the gist of how I did things in the salon and how my students continue to do things successfully. For longer nails, I use the phrase gel overlay and structure with a soft builder gel. For short nails, I use the words gel manicure and base gel to slightly structure the application. I categorize my services based on the length, and both services receive structuring. But I’ll just tell you how I simplify my service menu using these two terms. So is there any difference between the words gel manicure and gel overlay? Technically no. And for the sake of simplicity, especially when detailing your service menu, a gel overlay can also be synonymous with the words “structure gel overlay.” Technically, a gel overlay is any nail material overlaying the natural nails. These are all great questions that we will be answering today. What is a gel overlay? How is it different from a regular gel manicure? When is it appropriate to provide a gel overlay instead of a gel mani? Does it cost more? Structured Gel Overlay | + Characteristics The entire Aurora Society room flees as the zombie girl, referred to as a “bizarre doll,” starts attacking the members.
